My apartment is right along the river. The views are beautiful. Most of the time. EXCEPT when the trains go barrelling past full steam and blowing their horn the whole time. That is a little annoying some days. Luckily, I can now tune it out a majority of the time. A couple blocks from my building is the lock and dam where there is a pedestrian bridge over the tracks. Despite living here nearly a year, I actually stopped for the first time last week. Gave me a different view of the barges and trains that are passing by.

One of the best things about living along the river is the beautiful sunsets. Almost makes this never ending winter bearable. ALMOST.

Lake Pepin

Over the last week or so, the weather has been crazy. One minute is sunny and "warm". The next, clouds roll in and we get some awful wintery mix.  UGH! I am so sick of winter!

 Until spring actually arrives, I can just dream of warmer weather. On the upside, birds are moving through - large numbers of pelicans and other water birds are hanging out in the river. About a week ago, the ice started breaking up on Lake Pepin. Which makes for some really cool ice shelves along the shore.

Sandstone Visit

Spent a long weekend visiting friends and critters up north. It was great to see folks again and catch up!

Kaitlyn and I spent much of the weekend training birds. She even let me be an eagle trainer :)

Buena Vista

The weather may not be quite spring like but I went up to Buena Vista Park this past week. The views are great and slowly but surely the birds are migrating through!
