Iced Coffee!

As you might guess from the title of my blog, I really really like a good cup of coffee. I recently discovered a way to make myself a single cup of iced coffee. I pour any leftovers I have in the morning into an ice cube tray. When I want to sit out on a hot evening, I put of few coffee cubes in a mug and wait for it to melt. Hits the spot!

Fish Bones

Awhile back I grabbed some fish earbones from work. I had an idea stuck in my head that I needed to try. I wrapped some wire around them and turned them into a pair of earrings. These otoliths (ear bones) happen to be from the sheepshead or freshwater drum. Turned out pretty cool!

State Park Hopping

Hey Folks!

I know its been awhile since I last updated but I have been busy settling into my new surroundings. On many of my days off, I have gone exploring. So far, I have hit up six of the state parks in south-eastern Minnesota. Frontenac, Latch, Great River Bluffs, Carley, Whitewater and Forestville/Mystery Cave. My favorite views come from Great River Bluffs and Mystery Cave is the most unique. Anyways, here are a few pictures from my adventures!

Latsch State Park - Only attempt this if you're ready for an extreme leg workout!
Great River Bluffs - Fantastic views and a nice flat hike!

Mystery Cave!
One of my favorite spots in the cave - this picture doesn't even show you how awesome the reflection pool was!

Little Perks

Check it out!

I got my very own eagle handling glove. It was actually sewn specifically to fit my hand! It is a little thing but I am super excited about. I even brought it home to help break it in a little faster.

Both layers of my glove
I have used it for one week already and its working nicely. Although, Columbia broke it in more than I would have liked today. She actually put a hole in it and managed to cut my hand with one of her talons when recovering from a bate. It was bound to happen sooner or later with one of the birds. And don't worry, it barely left a mark. My hand is just going to be sore for a bit!
